Big, rich, roasty, slightly sweet, and black as night. English brewers in the 18th and 19thcenturies made an extra-strong stout for export to Russia and the Baltic. Ours is brewed in that tradition, smooth and warming. SILVER MEDAL WINNER 2002 CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR ®

Top notch version. Pitch black pour lets no light through. Thick, lasting cocoa colored head sits on top like a thick dollop of whipped cream. Huge roasted nose. Thick, creamy full bodied brew thats almost oily in nature. Flavor hints at cocoa and coffee. Sweet but nowhere near cloying. Just the right amount of bitterness hits in the finish with just a touch of alcohol. Very, very good.

This is a good looking pour: black w/ a one centimeter tan head that holds up well. The aroma and flavor are both dry and roasty. Very nicely done This review was from notes previously taken
