We’re celebrating 20 years of heady beers with this Imperial India Pale Ale. Always challenging our palates and our brewers’ talents, we added a massive dose of Hash for an aggressive hop punch, and followed with a secondary fermentation on Brettanomyces to bring some funk to that soul. The hops deliver first with a residual sweetness of the Hash, followed by passionfruit, tangerine, and citrus aromas leading to the tartness on the finish. An extraordinary creating tapping many talents, built up into a beautifully hazy, weirdly wonderful brew. 20 down, plenty more to go.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Pours clear amber with a thick and frothy, though not lasting, eggshell head. Aroma offers hoppy, tart fruit and funky notes. Flavor comes across as the offspring resulting from an IPA mating with a sour: hoppy, woody, bitter, tart, fruity, a little funky, definitely distinctive. Mouthfeel presents good body, fair fizz, and a sour woody finish. Happy 20th, Sweetwater, and may you celebrate many more!
