Surly’s Fourth Anniversary beer. An iced double espresso milk stout. In the Surly brewhouse brewing our Anniversary beers means one thing, forget what you know and try something different. Brewed with too many Espresso beans, too much Roasted Barley, and a healthy dose of Milk sugar, this Double Espresso Milk Stout has layers of chocolate, espresso and smoke flavors intertwined with a velvety lush body.

Courtesy of Blazer06. It pours deep darkness with nice dark tan head. The aroma is musty malts, dark roastiness, black licorice, dark roasted coffee, slight rauch maltiness and wet coffee grounds. The taste is smooth and quickly running into strong dark coffee along with sweetness and some light lactose. It stays very coffee like and thick with sweet malts before picking up a touch of coffee or roasted drying astringency.

Another big thanks to Todd for opening up this bottle at Cafe Twenty-Eight. Pours a pitch black colour with a tan head. Aroma is instant coffee beans, vanilla and milk on the nose. Taste is rich, strong coffee accents with dark chocolate and wood flavors. Like drinking perculated south american coffee while eating raw chocolate.
