This blonde and slight sour ale is the result of a research combining Brettanomyces Bruxellensis and Pediococus Cerivisae from Wyeast and some skills out of the Wild Woesten. Special beer by Struise as a tribute to Lembeek brewers.

Bottle from stateline, my weekend kickoff beer. Pour was a flat golden color, weak to nil lacing, sour ale-like. The aroma was tart apples and grapes. The flavor was all of that with some severe lemon-lime notes playing among it all. Thin mouthfeel, acidic clean finish, musty aftertaste. Expecting something a little more hearty or full, this let me down, a lot like a radler in its water-down (lemon-aded down) aspects, really just lacked a punch, although I like several of their other brews.

Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a nice pure white fizzy head with exceptional retention and great lacing. Aroma is perfectly balance between some dry hops notes and some tart yeasty notes. Taste is really well balance between some tart notes with light sour notes and a dry European hops finish. Full body with limited filtration and great carbonation. I thought this was a perfect take on a Orval type of beer and resemble what I thought Ommegang Ommegeddon should have tasted like.

This Belgian Ale pours a slightly hazy orange gold color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, orange with a hint of tartness. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, lots of orange and lemon flavors. The hops are earthy. An interesting beer, it has a lots of citrus fruit flavors yet has some serious tartness/sourness funk going on, yet all the flavors seem a little suspended. Its like the beer isn’t quite to its final stage yet, it is not incomplete or anything, but its like its about half ay down he final road. Lively carbonation. A light and refreshing beer. Mouthfeel is full, smooth and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

A soft pour yields a frothy, fairly large bubbled, almost one-finger thick, pale, white colored crown of froth. The beer is a mix of dark copper and light amber hues as it sits on my desk but shows a lightly hazy, bright copper color when held up to the light. The aroma is quite funky, with a definite Brett influence (though it is not overwhelming) as well as a tartness that makes me think of grapefruit and tart pears. Other aromatics reminiscent of apple cider, butyric acid, slight plastic-like phenols, musty earth, a touch of funky cheese and some light vinegar like notes are all noticeable to varying degrees. Towards the finish, if you really dig for it is a distinct lactic character, most of the tartness seems to stem from the grapefruit like notes though.
Fairly well carbonated, the beer foams a bit as it hits my tongue. The beer is only softly tart when compared to a Lambic, but it does produce a nice acidic taste. Flavors of tart grapefruit are noticeable from the get go and as the beer moves towards the finish it starts to taste a bit like artificial grapefruit concentrate (stems from the esters & acidity that create the grapefruit flavor along with a bit of phenolics thrown in). Fairly light bodied, though it does have some heft to it. Somehow it gives the sense of some tannins and a touch of oak character, though I don't think any wood ever touched this beer. This last leads to a bit of astringency that along with the acidity provides a bit of the finishing balance that is typically supplied by hop bitterness. A touch of cheesiness in the finish keeps this from being clean by Lambic standards; what this really means is that this beer is a probably a bit young.
An interesting beer, certainly a tribute to the Zenne valley, though not really a Lambic in "style". Tasty though & certainly worth trying and sitting on a couple bottles for a while. Purchased: Plaza Liquors, Tucson AZ

Pours out in a hazy amber colour with a low white foam. Tart and citriusy aroma, hay, mild grapefruit and mild brett. Lemon, wood, grapefruit, green apples, minerals with a very subtle pale maltiness. Medium-bodied. Long lemony and dry finish. Nice and well-made beer as usual from the Sturdy Brewers., I just expected a bit more brett character from this one. Should be a great summer drink.

Bottled (3 litres)@the Weekend Of Spontaneous Fermentation 2007. Hazy orange/yellow colour with small white head. Aroma is caramel, sugar, some fudge and fruits. Flavour is quite sour, acidic, earty and fruity with some slight yeasty hints. Wellbalanced and pleasant.
