Rated May 1st 2016. 2014 corked and caged 500ml bottle pours out with a slightly hazy deep copper body that supports a thin off white head. The aroma offers up plenty of oaky barrel character where there’s a blend of sweet smelling vanilla oak and brighter tarter aged oxidized white wine where mild levels of sweet dark fruity esters mingle in the background. The taste delivers sweet sugary malt drenched oak growing quickly into prunes, raisins and figs. To midway a mild white wine tartness attempts to break up the sweetness but only attains a brief respite. Around the edges there’s a soured beer sensation that doesn’t add or take away from the experience. Nice sipper.
