Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6
Pours dark mahogany with a thick light tan head. Streaming carbonation feeds into it, resulting in nice retention and decent lacing. Aroma is lightly smoky, char, wood, caramel and toasted grain. Nice bitter roast up front, light chocolate and toffee, toasted grain midpalate mingling with roast and an odd burnt wood flavor. Sweet and smoky in the finish, with a long aftertaste of roasted barley. Interesting stout, has some odd things going on with the wood and roast, but remains pretty drinkable. Certainly doesn't drink like a typical 7.4% abv stout.
