330 ml bottle. Chestnut colour, large head. Vinous aroma, claret, caramel, spices. Malty aroma where the sweetness is well balanced with decent hops. Elements of caramel, liquorice, dark chocolates and some spices. Nice warming mouthfeel. Definitely a beer I’ll buy again when I can find it.

8.5 on the label. Pours a cloudy brown colour. Head starts off as a ten and finishes as a five. Aroma is earthy, fruity and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium and prickly from the carbonation. Flavours of sweet caramel malt, toffee, dark fruits, and cherries. It is slightly sour and metallic with a nice alcohol warmth.

A gift from a friend. A nice pleasant abbey dubbel which is easy drinking and full of flavour. A dark brown pour with reddish edges, the aroma consists of sweet malt, sugar, and fruits. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with mild carbonation. The flavour is similar with a nice bitter end. Every once in a while there is a whiff of alcohol. -

Poured a deep copper/brown color with no head and little carbonation. Strong aroma of toffee, alcohol, and molasses. Velvety mouthfeel with a long sweet finish. Flavors of alcohol, butterscotch, caramel, and sugar.

Clear reddish brown with a big, thick tan coloured head. Raisin, toasted bread, nuts, dry yeast and burnt sugar in aroma. Yeasty raisin flavour, hints of herbs, burnt sugar, walnut, apples and dark bread. Dry yeasty finish with slightly bitter finish of dark bread and raisin.

Dark brownish copper colour, mediumsized brown bubbly head. Aroma is chocolate, slight roasted malts and some flowery hops weak in the background. Flavour is roasted malts along with licorace and chocolate. Some slight hints of metal, but the metal disappears, once the beer gets a bit warmer. Long toffeeish hoppy aftertaste. Hides it’s alcohol well. A bit too biting/crispy carbonation, otherwise very nice.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a huge foamy off-white head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with great Belgian malt is very enticing. Taste is a great mix between some candi sugar, Belgian malt and bready yeast. Body is quite full with no alcohol being discernable. Creamy texture is also quite enjoyable. Overall, this was a well done abbey dubbel with great drinkability characteristics.
