Yeasty with a bit of fruit in the aroma. Dark copper colour pour. Beige head thins but sticks around, not much lace. Sweet malty flavour, yeast, fruit and a hint of spice. Smooth medium mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable.

Pours a good size frothy beige head and has a murky amber appearance. Lacing is ok. Aromas are yeast, malts, toffee. Flavours are mainly malty, some notes of resin hops, brown sugar, raisins and figs. Tingling sensation on the palate. Somewhat of a bitter mouthfeel. Not bad but looking forward to the others in the mixed 6 pack I got.

Part of the St. Bernardus mixed pack. The beer pours a semi-translucent copper-tinged brown with a rocky off-white head. The aroma is yeast, brown sugar, plums, and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with above average carbonation. The flavour is sweet mal;t, caramel, raisins, yeast, and a spicy finish. A huge fan of St. Bernardus, and this is a very good beer. -

Clear dark ruby brown light brown lacing lasting foam head. Aroma is caramel, some nut, some hay tones. Drink little bitter, not too sweet. Quite nice. (Velp 201408)

I buy this one when I can find it. I am surprised that I haven't reviewed it yet. Pours the color and carbonation of soda. A bit of caramel and some dark fruits. not overly complex, but still a great beer.

330 ml bottle, ABV is 6.7%. Will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brown colour, huge off-white to beige head. Pleasant spicy aroma, notes of brown kandij sugar, dried figs and oak. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, and is not too sweet. A very drinkable dubbel!

Nifty. Pours translucent dark brown with a decent head and floaties. head dissipates but the lacing goes on and on. Wonderful nose. Mouthfeel has a bit of zing. Flavors are an amazing combination of spices and sugary malt. very clean, very drinkable, very enjoyable. Sir, may I have another?

Had this at Buffalo Wild Wings In Roanoke on 11-11-2010. This is a classic Belgian strong ale. It is a solid beer in the St. Bernardus tradition. Nice lacing, frothy head, great retention. Tastes of fig and plum. All around great beer.

malty brew...maybe a hint of brown sugar? a hint of hops. nice and direct, not a ton of complexity, but pretty tasty. i liked it, but maybe not for the premium price...

This was wholey lacking in complexity and balance as compared to other offerings from St. Bernardus, but still not a bad beer. Deep red color with a very thin head. On the malty side, but very drinkable with a clean finish. Honestly, I'd opt for the 8 or 12 instead if available.
