Once brewed in Britain for the Russian Czars, this tremendously rich and thick ale uses a profusion of burnt and caramel malts. A massive mouthfeel of dark roasted malt and coffee flavors finishes with hints of chocolate, caramel and licorice.

Purchased in a variety pack at Beverage Castle in Tampa. Dark black pour with deep light brown head. The aroma is burnt malts followed quickly by fruity sweet Concord jelly, dates, fudge brownies and coffee. The taste begins like the aroma with mild roasted to burnt malts that quickly turn sweeter with the aid of dark fruitiness and hints of molasses. Toward the finish the burnt malts are joined by coffee, sweet caramel candy and dark chocolate. Very nice.

Pitch black pour with a medium off white head. Very little lace. Rich flavors with coffee, chocolate and malts. Nice amount of sweetness thanks to honey. Very enjoyable.

This pours pitch black that when you hold the glass up to the sun. Not a beam of light shines through. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The taste is of malt and cold coffee and that's a good thing.

A tarry black colored beer with a big frothy textured brown head rising robustly above. There's good hang time on the head. Settles into a thick ringlet. Good nose. The total profile is burnt sugars, coffee and malt. Just like I love my beer. Light-medium bodied and drinkable.

Smoky aroma has coffee, roast malt and soapy notes. Pours a nice deep sable with an average light tan head. Lip-smacking flavor has notes of mocha, roast malt and licorice with a fruity hint. Smooth texture is average on both body and fizz. If not spectacular, at least drinkable and enjoyable.

This was a nice size bottle for the price.Poured like motor oil(what i expected and hoped for), aromas were nice, plenty of thickness to this beer. The flavor was really nice.My bottle said 7.9% abv. Great beer.

A pretty thin imp, light on aroma, light on flavor and way too thin in mouthfeel to measure up. Not a bad flavor, it's roasty but not nearly as complex as the best in the field, an imp for the masses but not for me.

Nice price on these one: Big nearly black pour with initially a thick tight tan head which shrinks rather quickly leaving some nice lacing. Roasted malts, very slight black coffee, light molasses and a touch of honey, some alcohol in the aroma. Taste is actually initially light for an Impy Stout, with toasted malts, some cocoa, a bit of burnt molasses, then the alcohol. Nicely priced, somewhat satisfying.

Light toast aroma with a buttery chocolate scent as well as notes of leather and peat moss. Opaque brown body with a sizable fluffy brown head and heavy lacing. Medium bodied stout, fairly sweet with a bitter aftertaste. Roasted malts with a nutty flavor. Milk chocolate and toast as well as dry cocoa. Good stout, but nothing imperial about it.

Bottle shared by Robert at SL. Pour was pretty typical for the style, deep dark black color, choco-colored head that was not all that big in size. The aroma was cocoa-chocolate and light roast, some faint vinous notes, lacking hop aroma. The flavor followed the aroma, chocolate (milk chocolate at that) at the fore of the experience with only light roasty character. Somewhat boring and lacking bold character to be excellent, but it was decent. Mouthfeel was full and silky.
