This tribute to St. Patrick's Day is smooth and creamy, with distinctive flavors and aromas reminiscent of bitter-sweet chocolate and dark coffee. Just one precious batch of this robust, ebony colored stout is brewed each year.

Dark reddish brown pour with a medium tan head. Very little lace on the glass. Roasted mocha notes with burnt alcohol in the background. A little too dry for a stout.

Not nearly as stouty as it could be, the black bavarian is more of a stout. This smells the part, very roasty, and looks the part, straight black, but is pretty thin in the flavor catagory and almost watery.

First of all, a big thanks to bluesandbarbq for this brew, aromas and flavors of roasted chocolate malts are most noticeable, with ever so slight hints of coffee, nuts, vanilla, and bread. Overall a very nice beer, I wish they sold this around here, especially for St. Patty's day.

Six months exactly until St. Patrick's Day - thank you O'pfoxyjohn for this excellent Irish goodness. Pours black with a nice thick sustained head that leaves some very nice lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of roasted chocolate malts, coffee, a little sweet caramel and creamy vanilla and a tad bit o'hops. Taste is smooth, creamy with a toasted coffee and chocolate malt goodness with a dry hops finish. A very good stout.

About 4 months since St. Patty's day and this beer just showed up on the local shelves. Seemed to still be in nice form, a hearty drinkable stout to say the least. Dark chestnut/brown pour with a lasting 1/2" head and mild lacing. Plenty of roasted malt and coffee aromas to keep my happy. Medium bodied stout that is smooth and drinkable. Creamy on the palate. Nuts, coffee and roasted malt flavors. Bitter chocolate finish with a buttery aftertaste. Minor hop presence, well balanced for a stout. Good brew.

Pours black with small, tight head. Aroma boasts inticing sweet chocolate with subtle roastiness. Vanilla, coffee, chocolate combine for a delicious flavor. The finish is perfectly dry. Medium bodied with effervescent carbonation. Great example of the style. Thanks for pfoxyjohn for sending this one South.

Sampled from bottle, thanks to pfoxyjohn. This stout pours blackened-ruby with a creamy tan head. Its aroma seems soured (like Guinness) with a faint dose of hops. Bread/caramel notes. Well-balanced with a dry finish. More caramel than what is found in most examples of the style. Lots of cocoa and less coffee than one might expect. Medium-full body and very easy to drink. A fine stout!

Colour is dark chocolate almost black, head is medium sized tan colour. Aroma is of lightly roasted coffee, and possibly a little scotch. Taste is incredible, coffee, toffee and hint of smoke. Awesome beer!

Pitch-black and opague with a creamy light brown (but somewhat short-lived) head. Very smooth and well-balanced; roasted malt with a long, delightful, slightly tangy, then mellow finish. Let it warm a little to add some complexity to the subtle flavors. Tremendous on draught, but don't be afraid of the bottled version if it's fresh - it can be just as good in my experience. This is a fine example of the Dry Stout style. As a born-in-Milwaukee Bavarian-Irish hybrid myself, I'm proud that Milwaukee's Sprecher Brewery makes one of the few Irish-style Stouts brewed in Wisconsin, and one of the best and most authentic that I've had outside of Ireland.

Thanks to Ughsmash for this beer. It pours black with a tan head. The flavors and aroma are very subtle, but this is a very drinkable beer. You could definitely kick back and have a few of these.
