Northern California used to be hop country til land prices increased and the hop industry moved to the Pacific Northwest. There's still a hop farmer in Clear Lake, though, who's growing awesome, organic NorCal hops. We used these hops like crazy in the Double Doozy, adding seven additions of hops for a beer as luscious as orange marmalade on warm toast (with candied grapefruit peel, some pine needles, and some roasted garlic too, if you're into that sort of thing).

like their other offerings, managed to be unique. what's impressive about that is we had 30+ dbl ipas over the weekend, and this was one of the most memorable. citrus peel and some funky (the garlicky?) hops used with some sweet malt to create a very nice beer that hides it's abv quite well. worth a trip to go here!
