Sierra Nevada Torpedo is a big American IPA; bold, assertive, and full of flavor highlighting the complex citrus, pine, and herbal character of whole-cone American hops. Around here, we take hops pretty seriously, which is why we weren’t satisfied with the standard method of dry hopping for our first year-round IPA. We spent years tinkering, tasting, and tweaking ways to get the biggest and best hop flavors and aromas into our beer. Our persistence has paid off. Our obsession with harnessing huge hop flavor led to the development of what we call the hop torpedo, a revolutionary method of dry-hopping designed, built, and debuted here at the brewery. Our torpedo is a sleek, stainless-steel piece of hardware that delivers more pure hop aroma than any method of dry-hopping we’ve ever seen. Like all our beers, Torpedo Extra IPA uses only the best whole-cone hops possible making this delicious ale worth the wait. 350ml (no, not 355ml) Bottle at Bistro l'Autre Oeil. Pours a nice thick frothy off-white head and has an amber coppery appearance. Dirty lacing. Aromas are more malty than expected. Some piney and earthy hop notes. Flavours are quite similar to aromas, but hops are much more prominent. Earthy hops and toasted malts. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Good retention. Average carbonation. Pretty good.

Pours an appetizing clear golden with a thick pale buff head. Aroma is strong and hoppy with a nice fruity underpinning. Seriously hoppy flavor torpedoes the palate with woody and evergreen tones, as well as malty and fruity notes, a little honey sweetness to balance the hop bitterness. Firm texture has some good fizz to it. Launch a glassful down your hatch!

this poured a clear amber color with a large off-white head. The aroma is very hoppy and the taste is sweet with hops and a nice bitter finish in the mouth.

Golden/ amber pour. Bubbly head recedes to a film but leaves some lacing. Don't give this to a craft beer novice. Very green flavoued. Strong herbal aroma and flavour. Flavour is also floral, orange and grapefruit peel, pine, pepper with just a hint of malt sweetness. Medium carbonation and body. Aroma could put some people off.

Amber/orange pour with a medium off white head. Fair amount of lace left on the glass. Not much of an aroma to it. Citrus and caramel flavors with hop bitterness.

Was slightly disappointed- still a good beer.. Expecting the use of "new" citra hop to be showcased. it was well present in aroma, but mild in flavor. Nice orange pour, good head. Medium body & CO2. Assertive piney bitterness with slight mango & grapefruit flavor from hops. Light malt sweetness. This would be a home run if the bitterness was dialed back a touch and citra was allowed to share with American style citrus hop.

Pours a dark amber with a little head.. aroma is almost non-existant. Taste is fairly strong but smooths down. Lots of hopps. Finishes off pleasant . A damn fine beer.

Wow, this is a hop bomb. Pours an orange/brownish color. Smell is of piney hops. Taste is extreme bitter, lots of hops, no balance to speak of. Overall to bitter for my liking.

Pours a orangish gold color and a pleasant dirty white head that gradually fades to a thin ring around the glass. The aroma is of peach, pine resin, grapefruit rind, and balanced by light, sweet malts. The taste of the beer is similar to the aroma which is grapefruit mingles with pine resin and plenty of bitterness, with mild, cracker-like malt flavors arising as this washes across the back of the palate. The beer is medium-bodied with fairly minimal carbonation, which finishes quite dry due to numerous hops and residual sugars.
