To pay homage to the original hop headed hero of Short’s Brewing Company, this beer was made as a 30th birthday gift for Joe Short. A double IPA, this beast employs a sizable malt bill, but it’s the ridiculous amounts of hops added to the boil every 4 minutes, for 120 minutes, that showcases this beer. A fruity, floral, piney intensity of hops penetrates through the caramelized malt profile. This well balanced, full bodied brew finishes bitter with a punch of fresh citrus from the addition of lemon and orange zest post fermentation. This beer is a burley double IPA with enormous amounts of hops which helps to support the healthy malt profile. A piney, citrusy intensity of hop protrudes through the caramelized malt profile and is finished with a punch of fresh citrus compliments of fresh lemon and orange zest added after fermentation. Enjoy with caution.

intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma, followed by and tempered by lemony tartness abd semi-sweet ornage and malt. not a beer for the timid, but it was quite good.

The most pungent DIPA I have ever tried, and my favorite! Grapefruit, orange, lemon and pine aroma and taste, with a lingering bitterness. Completely unfiltered, with a ton of floaties in cloudy amber. Medium head and duration. I bought 3 cases in January because it has very limited seasonal availability. http://www.shortsbrewing.com/beer/our-portfolio/seasonal-offerings/the-liberator/
