Spooks Ale offers protection to any who drink it against ghosts and shouls encountered on All Hallows Eve. With its eerie red hue and the brewers witchy chant, the memory of Spooks Ale will haunt you forever ! Spooks Ale is a devilishly great beer. It is characterised by a distinct, biscuity palate, derived from blending three traditional roasted barley malts in the mash. These complex, malty flavours are wonderfully balanced by a citrusy, hoppy bitterness and an aroma from an especially fruity hop which is added at four different stages during brewing.

Pours a deep rich amber colour with a frothy warm cap, good retention and creamy lacing. Lots of fruits starting with red apples, then going into some darker ones like prunes, dates to show the caramel base. Fruity malt flavours found in a red ale with some decent hops in the finish. Lightly dry. Not sure about the Ghost Brew thing, as I would prefer a pumpkin beer for this, but overall a very nice ESB with nice grassy notes.

Pours a thick frothy off-white head and has a dark amber appearance. Pretty decent lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, bready malts and citrus notes. Flavours are quite malty, lots of roasted malt notes, spices are also quite involved in the mix. Medium-full bodied. Somewhat of a rusty like taste in the finish, not offensive like metallic taste. Goes down fairly well.

The beer pours a translucent Indian Red colour with a thin tan head that lasts. Aroma is caramel malt, grains, and weak herbal hops with metallic notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet malt, caramel, weak coffee and tinny notes. Not a great purchase. -

bottle - pours a clear amber-red 1 finger off white cap reduces quickly to a surface lace, but does lace the glass well. Modest carbonation, Nose is malty caramel, some leafy hops - flavour follows nose - caramel, golding bittering in good balance clean bitter finish with a decent hop bite at the end - nice little bitter but nothing spectacular.
