Aroma is rich, oily and yeasty with a firm overtone of fine roast coffee. It pours a nice, dark, nearly opaque chocolaty brown. Flavor is malty with coffee and chocolate undertones, as well as hints of molasses and smoke. Texture is smooth and fizzy, just a teeny bit watery. Recommended.

07.27.04. Bottle, sample from salesman. Pours a dark, nutty brown with a big white head that quickly dissipates to a creamy trace. Big malty aroma, some weedy quality to it. Palate is thin and crisp, not adding much to the flavor. Some odd vegetal, raw grass flavor on the finish. What started out hopeful turned unpleasant.

Dark ruby brown with a slim tan head. Fresh yeasty, coffee and caramel aroma. Nice coffee and caramel taste. Medium bodied, fairly carbonated. Nothing spectacular but good drinkable beer.
