A nice, spicy twist on the traditional European Pilsener. Rye malt adds dimension to what otherwise is a relatively simple brew. We've used generous amouns of this complex malt so you can pick out the unique flavors. You'll notice a nice subtle spiciness in the finish complemented by a crisp bitterness from Vanguard hops.

12 Beers of Summer Saranac 12-pack -
Aroma - it has kind of an earthy/citrusy thing going on that’s hard to pinpoint. Decent.
Appearance - dark yellow body, smaller sized 1" white cap
Taste - cereal-like in flavor, bread dough with a touch of herbal spice. Refreshingly easy to drink.
Palate - light bodied, crisp, clean flavors
Overall - 2 of 2 with the Summer beers pack. Watching Boston take game 4 of the Lakers with this is nice. -

a unique take on a traditional style. the rye isn't as prevelant in the aroma as i'd like, but the flavor and follow through is usually where a pils is weak, and it's where this one shines. a nice light summer refresher. crisp and fresh, with a dry rye finish.

Sampled on 5/19/2010. This rye pilsner pours a light to medium gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal and spicy, a touch of rye. A light to medium bodied pilsner. The malts are cereal, grainy and a touch spicy. The hops are herbal and spicy. The spiciness of the rye is fairly noticeable; it adds some body and some spiciness to this beer. The pilsner itself is fairly mild so the rye flavors kind of stand out. Lively carbonation. A nice light and refreshing summer beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This is a new offering in the Saranac 12 beers of summer limited release. This was incredible. VERY drinkable great balance ofmalt and hops with a very palatable 4.8 ABV great fluffy head and visable active carbonation. This will be a fav on the deck this summer
