This beer didn’t look half bad, a dark amber color with a moderate white head. But looks can be deceiving! The aroma contains some caramel, hops of some sort? and soap. The flavor is fairly one dimensional with some malty notes. If you close your eyes and zone out you can detect some faint bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall if you handed this to someone and told them it’s Killians, they would likely not question you.

Nice clear amber red pour with a decent head and some lazy lacing. Some carbonation. Sweet caramel with the malts and very slight hops in the aroma. Taste is smooth and slightly sweet with a toffee/caramel malt base and a bit of hops in the end. Finishes a touch dry. Nice and cheap too.

Friendly smell. Orange brown, perhaps some red. Mellow acceptable flavor. Nice tingly citrus like carbonation. Finish may have some processed linger but it is palatable and enjoyable at times.

Saranac Irish Red is a limited release and a darn fine addition. It pours a deep garnet red with subtle smooth flavors and a velvety smooth mouth feel that make for an that is delightful to drink. It could be paired with any food that wouldn;t overpower it. It is made for traditional pub grub shepards pie, fish and chips, or a nice cheddar I had it with fish cakes. It complimented it very well . It would be wicked with a burger or a roast. Saranac bills it as a limited release available ony till April. Please track this one down.
