A true Bavarian wheat yeast, sixty percent wheat malt, and German hops make Santa Fe Wheat Beer as true to the style as any American rendition can be. The Germans, through their timeless dedication and almost religious devotion to beer, have managed to perfect the art of brewing like no other country. Every strain of yeast, every variety of hop, and every style of beer from Germany is as perfect as a Vermeer painting, and the Santa Fe Brewing Company realizes this. Their Wheat Beer, with its hints of banana and clove, its delectable, spicy, hops, and its pale golden color, is as German as can be (even though it doesn't conform to the reinheitsgebot). For a distinctly German Feeling, after pouring your Santa Fe Wheat Beer into a glass, swirl the last few drops in the bottle to loosen up the yeast from the bottom, then pour the yeast over the top of your beer to mimic the German Hefeweisen style.

Has the adequate banana clove aspect to the nose and flavor, but is a little too light on the palate to be that great. An ok sessionable brew, nothing more...

It pours a bright golden-yellow with a very thin white head and surrounding lacing. An aroma of wheat malts, light hops, citrus blend, bananas, light pear, and cloves and spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and quite rich. Flavors of wheat malts, hops, lemon and citrus, banana, and cloves and other spices. Excellent!

Sampled on 4/16/2009. This wheat ale pours a slightly cloudy light straw color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, decent lacing. Aroma is wheaty and estery, touch or cereal. A light to medium bodied wheat ale. The malts are wheaty and cereal. The hops are slightly spicy and a touch earthy. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Crisp and clean. A light and refreshing Wheat Ale. Nice summer session ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Poured a lightly hazy, dark golden color with minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma was grainy, with wheat, honey, nuts, and light clove. Taste was a bit metallic, watery, cereal malts, citrus, and low bitterness.
