First sampled this at the 9th Annual Festival of Beer in Downtown San Diego, hanging with my BA buds Richard and Scott.

First had this at the 2003 San Diego Real Ale Festival a few months back, where the cask-conditioned version of this beer was quickly killed by hop-loving maniacs like myself. :) So when I heard that the good folks from the Sant Barabara Brewing Company had brought down a keg of this, I knew that I had to get a sample of this before my taste-buds got too schnockered up...!

Unlike the Double IPA I had prior to this (Pizza Port's Frank), this Double IPA makes it a point to make sure that the hops get top billing from start to finish, and all points in between. Enough creamy maltiness to make this wholly satisfying, but still making sure that the hops are in the forefront thjrough and through. Not sure of the alcohol content of this one (7%? 8%?), but couldn't detect any in the small sample I had. Highly drinkable.

An excellent example of the style, and something that I wish I can get on a more routine basis. Highly recommended.
