Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat as well as lemon zest and grains of paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th Century to create a crisp and spicy flavor and body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these come together to create a quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm Summer days.

Clear golden in color with a thin white head, light patchy lacing. Aroma is sweet, a little grainy, some apples, light wheat and citrus. Flavor is moderately sweet, some very light citrus hops, wheat, some metal. Sweet and a bit chemical mouth feel, light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes quick, a bit watery.

Poured this one after mowing 1acre of land on a hot florida summer day. It was cloudy gold in color. The aroma is of wheat and lemon. The mouthfeel is a little thin for my liking. The taste is of wheat and mild fruit with spice.

Pours thick with a good foam head. Smells of grain, wheat and lemons. Thick mouth feel. Tastes of wheat and lemons with grain and some corriander spice. Full finish. Kind of refreshing but way too thick for a summer ale IMHO.

Pours a dark golden color. Smell is of lemons, wheat. Taste is the same, mild wheat and lemon. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent brew.

pours a cloudy yellow color with no head, with no retention, and no lacing. No real carbonation or bubbles activity. The aroma is grains, a hint of citrus and lemon, a bit of malt, and not much else. There is not much going on in the aroma, and what is going on doesn’t smell very good. The taste isn't that great with grains and a little wheatness are acceptable, but the lemony/citrusy flavoring just ruins it. I couldn’t get past the artificial fruit flavoring and how bad it was. The mouthfeel is sticky sweet, with a moderate body with a little carbonation.

WOW is all I can say. I really enjoyed this one. The aroma reminds me of freshly mown grass in the middle of a forest. A smooth and silky mouthfeel gives way to some back of the throat after taste, but it's minimal. Taste wise although it's listed as an American wheat, I found it more of a kolsch/pa hybrid. The night I sampled one I found it a wee piney for my liking, however having left a few in the fridge over night the next day it was very very good and you could discern the wheat. Exceptionally easy drinking. Would definitely drink this one over and over again.

Pours a golden amber with a small head. Aroma is sweet, with a hint of spice. Taste is normal for the style with a stronger kick at the end. Very good beer for the style, a little above average. Will have again.

I had to try this, but the taste was nasty! Usually, Sam Adams is excellent. Not this one though. Goes down fine, then the taste almost makes you want to puke. Maybe it sat in a hot warehouse too long!

Cloudy with a bright white, soapy head with decent lacing. Color is of a light orange to dirty yellow. Looks a bit like TANG. With the smell I got the lemon and spice up front. Somewhat grainy. I was detecting an odd "urinal" fragrance that was very unpleasing to me. Really distracting. May have had a bad batch or something. Mostly getting the lemon citrus upfront with a slight bitter aftertaste with the taste. Medium/thin mouthfeel that was watery, but had a crisp, smooth finish. Easily drinkable during the hot months of course. Perfect for summer. I just could get over the smell!!! The smell really brings down the overall score for me.

Clear pale gold with a good 1” cap. Aroma is mild crisp and tart, some lemon, wheat and flowers. Taste is the same mild tart and dry with more of floral flavor then citrus. Crisp and easy to drink the beer is perfect for what it was made for, summer. I wish it had more flavor and was heavier but then it would lose its hot patio drinkability. Glad I had it but will most likely never purchase again.
