Pours dark brown with light brown edges and thin off white head. The aroma has dark roasted malts with both chocolate, grains and caramel. The taste has the same roasted maltiness as in the nose as well as grainy malts, chocolate malts and faint caramel. Very tasty.

Clear dark brown ruby with light brown little lacing foam head. Aroma is caramel, some nutty and fruit tones. Watered down taste however. Again caramel, little barley, some smokey toast tones. (Velp 201411)

In my journey through the beer world, I wind up at Portugal. S Schwarzbier. Gotta be good? Right? On pour it starts okay. Nice ebony color. Decent tannish head that settles into a nice frothy lacing. It is there that this sampling went downhill. The aroma and taste are simple, sweet and hints of corn. The taste was bland. The mouthfeel is weak and watery.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal, Stavanger. Ingredients include maize (corn) and rice. 10.8 degrees Plato. ABV is 4.3%. Very dark colour, nearly black, ruby in the highlights. Low head. Very moderate malty aroma, hints of coffee. Flavour is surprisingly watery and bland, drinking it after the excellent Nøgne Ø and Nørrebro beers obviously didn’t help. "Boiled" notes, wet cardboard and dust abound. Disappointing.

Bottled. Dark brown colour, mediumsized brownish big head. At first a bit barnyardish aroma, but once it settles and the head vanishes the aroma turns into pleasant burnt malt, with hints of caramel and chocolate. Flavour is roasted malt (grows a lot, and stays for long in aftertaste!). Caramel, chocolate and a bit anis too in the flavour. Quite pleasant, but a bit watery palate.
