Dating back to the mid 1800's, this new creation was often considered a table beer and was prescribed to nursing mothers and sick children, in the belief that adding oats to beer made it healthier and could be used as a remedy for many sicknesses. Sweeter than most stouts, this classic brew goes great with steaks, hearty stews and many desserts.

Once the thick head settled, it settled into a chocolate coloured body, with a still pretty large vanilla coloured head. It had aromas of breakfast, cocoa and oatmeal. It wasn't too sweet, and not too rich.
