Newport is known for its Yaquina Bay Oysters, farmed up the bay from Rogue at the Oregon Oyster Farm. This beer is designed after a traditional Irish style stout with the addition of fresh Oregon Oysters, mellowing the intense chocolate and hop flavors. Brewed with Northwest Harrington & Metcalf, C-120 & Chocolate Malts; Cascade Hops, Free Range Coastal Eaters and Top-Fermenting PacMan Yeast. Oyster Cloyster Stout measures in at 12 Plato, 40 IBU, 107 Lovibond, and 75 AA. A protion of the proceeds benefit the Oregon Coast Community College Foundation and the OCCC Aquarium Science Program.

On tap at the Newport Alehouse. Dark black color. Small sized head. Aroma is roasty and chocolately. A full-bodied stout. Malts are chocolate and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Nicely balanced. Smooth taste. A touch oily, but in a good way. Itís full tasting without being thick. Lots of roasty flavors. This would be a good stout for a newbie. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, dark tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Roasted, chocolate, rather hoppy aroma. Chocolate and roast, smoke and a light hoppy taste, with a meaty, faintly salty mouthfeel. Really nice stout!
