Malty aroma has a strong overtone of ginger. I like ginger. Pours a dark, slightly hazy mahogany with a thick, fluffy wheat head. Ginger overpowers all the other flavors - malt and a hint of woody hops. I like ginger, but this tastes more like ginger ale than the real stuff. Smooth texture has good body and is quite fizzy. Tasty, but maybe next time lighten up on the ginger, s’il vous plait.

330 ml capped bottle. Poured in a English half-pint glass a clear and dark brown-mahogany coloured Spiced Ale with a short one finger beige foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is solid malts, riped fruits, raisins, spicy, licorice, ginger and vinous notes. The flavour is roasted malts, brown sugar, spicy, licorice, ginger and at the end of the seap a clearly emerging peppery touch. The mouthfeel is fulled, thick, sweety ( too ) and smooth. The texture is oily. This medium to full bodied S A has a lingering sweet -spicy finish. A quite bewitching Spiced Ale balancing perfectly the sweety and spicy sides. I like it !

It pours as a deep chestnut brown, which is quite clear and had a light carbonation. The head is a fast fading small creamy off-white. There is the expected aromas of ginger, slight lemon zest and some biscuit. The taste is sweet upfront with a weird pepper and earthy flavour . The aftertaste is dominated by the ginger.

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Reddish ambery brown colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is ginger, some citrus fruits, mild grassyness as well. Flavour is ginger and some slight parfumed soapy notes as well. The ginger also gives a slight burn after swallowing the beer.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. This is Old Tom blended with Fentimans Ginger Beer (the latter is actually not a beer at all, but a softdrink like "ginger ale" - only with REAL ginger as an ingredient). Mahogany coloured beer, big beige head. Distinct aroma of ginger, also fruity and slightly vinous notes, hints of caramel. The flavour is rich and sweet, a bit too much on the sugary side, with distinct notes of stem ginger in syrup. Some hops and a ginger burn in the finish. I definitely prefer the "ordinary" Old Tom to this one - and also Chocolate Tom if I need a change. However, Ginger Tom is far from undrinkable, if you happen to like ginger - which I fortunately do.
