Notice a unique aromatic nose with a hint of vanilla esters, which comes from the Belgian ale yeast. Tripel Horse has a big body and rich mouth feel and finishes mostly dry with only a touch of sweetness. If you shy from some of the sweeter Belgian ales, we think you will enjoy this one. The palate improves with age, so keep some on hand and you can ride Tripel Horse down a new path with each opened bottle.

Picking up the 6 pack all I could think of was the alliterative name. A decent take on the old Belgian style with a hazy golden-red pour capped by a decent-sized white head. Spices, yeast, and citrus dominate the nose. The flavour matches the aroma although not as spicy on the tongue and the alcohol is noticeable.

This is a definitely complex beer, amber color, fruity nose and definitely a ripe fruit on the palate...Not a beer for everyone and must be chosen with certain cheese for example...

Bottled@omhper. Honeyish golden colour, small head. Aroma is fruits, some wood and mild notes of spices and caramel malts. Flavour is fruits, some spices, mild yeast, earth and some rather sweet malts.

Pours a cloudy orange with a medium sized white head. Aroma is yeasty with hints of orange and banana and some sweetness. Taste is yeasty, sweet and fruity. Overall, a very good beer for the style--not too sweet like many other Belgians I've tried.

Poured a hazy orange gold color with a huge white head, tons of carbonation. Aroma was floral and sweet, with citrus, yeast, and raisin. Flavor was similar. A nicely hidden alcohol that I didn't detect right away.

Wonderful opaque resin orange color full of so many flavors...Fruit and honey dominates...a little yeasty and packs an alcohol punch but it sneaks up on you....awesome head, very much like diamond bears IPA...Wish I had a dozen more..... :o)

A gift from Singlemalter: While I opted in cellaring this, the temptation was too much. Now I wish I had another one to hold on for another year. This beer pours the most incredible head I have ever seen. An orange body with lots of carbonation. Very sweet taste, mangoe, apples- oddly enough it has that cider sweetness. Crazy head like an ice cream cone. Styrofoam, 3D styled lacing- no joke and a sticky jungle spider web like residue left on the glass. A spicey finish in every sip.

I really like this beer, but then, I really like River Horse. Pours a dull orange color, rather hazy, huge billowy head. Liberal, persistant and sticky lacing. Nose is floral and fruit, and very heady. Flavor is more of the same, and nice and dry. Alcohol is pretty well hidden.... didn't jump out at me. I bought a case of this after getting six in a sampler case, and am enjoying it. I'd love to try some on draught someday.
(UPDATE 18Jun07) Knocking one down tonight after a long hiatus since the last time. Bottled over a year ago, and aging really nicely, with an even richer fruit and spice aroma and flavor. Two more left, and I'll cellar them for a while longer. -

Unimpressive pour. Unimpressive aroma. Unimpressive taste. Light gold pour, no head. Next to no aroma. Flavor really thin…moderate amount of sweetness, a good bit of hop bitterness that seemed wrong somehow (like grassy, hay hop)...and a weird lemony tartness. I think I'll pass on this one.

Bottle. Poured a hazy, light-amber color with a thin, white head. Nice lacing. Strong aroma of apricot with a bit of yeast. Nice full mouthfeel. Flavor was what I expected with how the aroma is, except the yeast was more powerful than the apricot flavor. Not a stellar beer, but this was drinkable.
