A toast lager with notes of chocolate and coffee. Unlike a heavy porter or a stout it’s amazingly light, crispy, and sessionable. KCCO Black is a delicious misfit.

Pours translucent cola brown with a frothy gray-tan head. Aroma has a strong note of raw barley with hay and woody hop side-tones. Malty flavor has a burnt undertone and hints of hay, woody hops, and coffee. Texture lacks fizz and firmness, but goes down well. Resign and get hooked.

Light toffee, roasted coffee, and even lighter chocolate on the nose and flavor. Mildly bitter, perhaps a touch to sweet and not quite as dry as I like in the style. Not bad, but nuthin special either.

I had no idea what KCCO meant when I bought this beer the first time. I saw the little collaboration note 'with Redhook' so I thought I'd give it a try as a nod to the original Redhook ESB back when it was good. It's okay for a dark beer, but it sort of tries to balance all the flavors like coffee, chocolate and some other stuff, nothing really punches through clearly. Like some dark beers are just bolder tasting lagers, while others are fiercely laced with chocolate or coffee flavors, this KCCO seems like everything and the kitchen sink went into it, and some new but strange flavor was created. It's a decent tasting beer, kind of a head-scratcher in my opinion. Hard to recommend this, but it's not bad if you end up having it.

Clear dark brown color with ruby highlights and a smallish off white head that dissipates quickly. Caramel malt with a hint of chocolate and bread makes up the majority of the aroma. The flavor is what I expected from the aroma. Toasted bread and light caramel and chocolate. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick smooth mouthfeel. Decent beer but a bit watery and flavors dont really stand out.

Pours a clear black color with a nice white head. The aroma is of light hops, coffee and chocolate. The mouthfeel is just little thin but not at all bad. The flavor is of malt, mild hop, coffee and chocolate. Not for advanced taste but a good beginner craft beer.

A deep brownish-black in color with a small, two fingered, sudsy textured light tan head rising briefly above. A moderate ringlet and persistent cap is left. Sweet malt in the nose. Light, nearly watery, caramel in the tasting and in the body. Drinkable.

Actually Brewed at Redhook not Resignation. Pours a clear burnt caramel color with a 2 finger sudsy off white head that takes it time. Light carbonation. Aroma is dark roasted and slightly nutty. Taste is tame and kinda bland. Slightly roasted and smoked. Seems to stick to all the parts of your mouth. Just like all Redhooks brews it is not the best. Now go to the site and check out dem titties!

Collaboration with Redhook. A good all-around dark lager. Better than Yuengling Black & Tan. About equal to Sammy Adams Black lager...maybe slightly more chocolate malt. Just found out about these beers and KCCO...as they just made it this way. Neighbor who works at Total Wine & More brought me a sample, but I wouldn't really go out of my way for this. About the same quality as Redhook in general I guess.
