Winterhook's rich, full body and deep chestnut color make it the perfect beer for chilly winter days! The complex malt profile with hints of chocolate and caramel are the result of using nine different varieties of malt. We balance the sweetness of the malt with four separate hop charges. This leaves a delicious beer that is well rounded with a clean finish.

From Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace, in a bomber. Rocky ivory head with nice lacing over a clear, dark copper pour. Lots of malt for the nose, plus some coffee and piney hops. Decent mouth. Flavour echoes the aroma.

After reading previous reviews, I believed that this beer would pour and look like a stout. It did not. I thought that it would have an enticing appearance or aroma. It did not. I believed that it would have some kind of taste or mouthfeel. It did not. There is, however a metallic finish and acrid aftertaste that may qualify as some sort of "flavor." Kudos to this macro brewer who charades as a microbrewer for once again fooling me into buying their product. Would I buy this beer again? I would not.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ UPDATE +++++++++++++++++++++++ I tried to con my unsuspecting dinner guest into drinking this swill by chatting it up and toasting with the stubby bottle. Even they realized that it was a sub par beer. Maybe it was the skunk stink that comes off of it. Maybe it was my bitter beer face. This tase like horse piss strained throuugh gym socks. I'll choke it down.

Settle into a rainy Friday nigt ith a Greek Calazone and this ale. A deep, dark brown ale with reddish tint. Small frothy light beige head. Settles too quickly. Not much lacing Aroma, light as it is is caramel and grassy hops. There is an sugary film on the palate. Moderate body. Not much carbonation. Sweet caramel, nuttiness notes, some bittering citric. A decent drink. But, it doesn’t jump out and punch you with a ‘WOW!’

Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is nutty, malty, with some spice. Taste is mostly malty but with hints of spice and bitter hops. Very good winter ale.

I enjoyed the nutty flavoring this one had. There was a hint of a coffee flavor that was also enjoyable. It poured a rich brown color with a nice head. The aroma was a little stronger (and not as appealing) as the taste, though. But overall this was very enjoyable.

a nice nutty malt flavor greets you, but it kind of goes off the tracks after that. better than their average beer, but with the abundance of winter ales out there, this one is easily passable.

This was a really nice beer, i liked the color and the taste was great. The beer head was non-existent, but the taste was great .Without a doubt the best winter ale i have had. Would highly recommend this one.

Poured a dark dark brown with good size tan head There was a rich full bodied mouth feel and a hearty flavor that was quite enjoyable. It paired well with cheese or nibbles. A good choice for Xmas eve.

Winter 2008: Very nice seasonal, this beer is impressive. Burgundy in color with a billowing, fluffy tan head that sticks around. The sides of the glass are strewn with thick layers of lacing. A strong carbonation can be seen through the body of the beer. Thin malty aroma with notes of toffee, mild chocolate and yeast. It smells as if this is generously dry hopped due to the fruity hop aromas. Good balance, but it drinks a touch too thin. Malt and hops are well proportioned. Lots of hearty malt flavors. Cereal, toast, chocolate, and coffee are stuffed inside of a lightly evergreen mildly citrus hop taste. Bargain winter seasonal that is crafted well above it's price tag considering the competition. Aside from a light body I found this most enjoyable

Pours much darker than expected, but with little to nor aroma, slight redness in the nose. Feels thin in the mouth and in the aftertaste. Has very similar piney hop flavor to Redhook Longhammer IPA but without any of the deep taste. I taste a typical "winter beer" malt background, but in THE background. kinda disappointing.
