Forbidden Fruit Spiced Apple Farmhouse Ale is the first of Red Hare's seasonal series. Forbidden Fruit was brewed with ingredients to evoke the experience of fall in Georgia, from apple picking in Ellijay to enjoying a slice of freshly baked apple pie. The crust of this French-style brew is formed with 2-row malts and Munich malts plus two Caramel malts. Loads of fresh pressed apples from North Georgia are added laced with vanilla and cinnamon to give a sweetness, which is balanced by the addition of Saaz hops. Finally the whole recipe is "dry hopped" with cinnamon to create a finish that emulates the experience of the first bite of a fresh baked apple pie.

Growler from sam. Light golden amber pour, tall bubbly head, some lacing. Light sweet and then tart apple and pears with some cinnamon in the initial aroma and palate, very light barnyardy funk, yeasts, more light sweet apples. Nice and tasty.

Comes out of the growler a pretty clear amber with a thick and frothy eggshell head. The sample I got fizzed like nobody's business, albeit slowly, so be prepared. Malty aroma has overtones of cinnamon and fresh apple plus a hint of hops. Satisfying flavor does give the feeling of drinking a liquid apple pie - malty core, notes of cinnamon and apple, hints of caramel and hops and yeast. Firm, fizzy texture leaves a spicy and fruity finish. Even if it is a fall beer, this brings cheer to any season.
