Hearty aroma is mainly yeasty and fruity with a malty underpinning. It pours a clear, dark, bubbly chestnut with a very thick and frothy pale wheat head that sticks around for quite a while. Strong flavor has firm malty, hoppy and fruity notes plus yeasty and subtle spicy (mainly cloves) and woody tones. Very hearty, enjoyable and pleasing! Smooth texture has good body and fizz. Labeled a winter warmer, but fine any time of year.

Pours a dark amber with a massive white fluffy head. Fairly well carbonated. Aroma is pretty sweet, reminded me immediately of pixie sticks. Taste is kinda bland with that typical banana bread like taste of Belgian ales. Aftertaste is fairly metallic with a creamy mouth. Kinda burns on the way down. It is what it is, drinkable.

A deep mahogany colored beer with a big frothy off white head rising above. There's some hang time on that head. It settles into a thin ringlet. Light malty alcohol nose. Allspice is heavy in the tasting. Some grassy hops. Light medium bodied and smooth.

It pours a dark mahogany and burnt-orange with a thick and foamy light-tan head and fairly copious lacing. A nutty aroma of caramel malts, chocolate, toffee, coffee, light hops, orange and citrus, bitterness, light raisin and dates, and some spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick, and rich. Flavors of roasted caramel malts, chocolate, toffee, coffee, hops, orange and citrus, bitterness, nuts, raisin and dates, and spiciness. Excellent!

this here is a nice roasted malt and toffee winter warmer. there's enough hops to take notice, but this is more of an english style brew. pretty good and one of pyramids better brews. not sure why i hadn't reviewed it yet...or had i and BP is Fing with me? 2011- this year's is drain pour! what the hell...the year old bottle i just had was much better...

Pour is dark brown with a decent tan head. Malty aroma with hints of caramel and spice and some hops. Taste is much the same--sweet but not overly so and a hint of bitterness in the finish; spice remains in the background where it belongs. A tasty winter offering.

Not my cup of tea for a winter beer. Malty, medicinal, minty flavor. The beer pours a relatively dark amber with a smallish head. The aroma is a mixture of band-aids and mint with some malt presence. The flavor is a tad sweet for my liking. It’s not a terrible strong ale, but it’s not terribly interesting or worth another purchase. Jubelale may be a dollar or two more for a six pack, but it’s worth it.

Imbibed at Raymond's Deli...the best lunch in Bishop, CA...Citrus hops underscoring the sweet caramel malts. A nice combination. The label stated "winter warmer," but I found very little spicing here. At 7%, I didn't taste the alcohol at all. Pours a deep brown with some red tints. Nothing fabulous, but a great beer to have alongside a fabulous sandwich.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby brown with a creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet nutty malts and a little spicing and fruits.
The flavor is roasted nutty malts with some sweetness and fruits and some tarry bitterness in the finish with some alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with sharp carbonation.
Overall, not a very exciting winter beer. The flavors just don't do it for me. -

This brew pours a dark amber color that is slightly transparent and produces a small offwhite head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is very pungent, and alined with the style perfectly, sour fruit and nuts. the mouthfell is a little thick for the style. Flavor is very complex, but it is missing something in the finish. Overall, I probably won't try this one again, simply for personal reasons, it is a fine ale.
