A great IPA, although not as bold as their Imperial IPA. STill, a great IPA that rivals any of the better bottled versions on the market. Hoppy, with just the right amount of citrus. Excellent copper color. Enjoy a pint or two when you're in the area.

Wow, where did this come from?

Had one (and unfortunately the last) pint of this at the Portsmouth Brewery yesterday afternoon. But what I was able to sample was indeed liquid gold in a glass!

Immediately reminded me of another stellar non-West Coast/PacNW IPA -- namely the infamous Two Hearted Ale. That is to say, this particular beer works not neccesarily just from the massive additions of every hop under the sun (though the hop profile of this is indeed quite nice), but from a nicely complex malt profile. Bready, bisquit-y, and not mushy-soft as seems to be the de'rigor around these parts.

Immediately and nicely quaffable -- this pint went down way to soon. And I was heart-broken when the server said that pint was last that they had on hand for the time being. Perhaps they'll have some available for a growler fill before I fly back to SD at the end of the week. But even if they do not, I'll have very fond memories of this sturdy, nicely bitter, and altogether poundable IPA. Recommendable.
