Produced by means of the method of natural fermentation from specially selected ingredients, it is Okocim’s traditional beer, loved for its shining golden color, richly bitter flavor and distinct scent of hops. It owes its dense and abundant foam to high saturation with cardon dioxide. All theses qualities combined have earned Zagloba beer high praise of all those connoisseurs, who look for something reall special. For years Zagloba has been the market leader. One of my favorite pilsners. Finished some of the last bottles available in Canada a few months ago. It would be my number one if it were not for the heavier, filling finish to this beer. That is personal taste though. I believe that a great Pilsner should be light in body and palate, start crisp, stay dry and aromatic to the nose, and then finish smooth with sharp citrus dryness. Oki smells great, starts crisp but is a bit heavy on the palate and finishes a tad filling. It is also one of the darkest Pilsners. These are all small idiosyncrasies in Oki’s overall character. Generally, it’s a very good Pilsner....I miss it

~ Initial Review, 07-01-2003:
I'm not 100% sure that this is the same beer that everybody else is reviewing, since the sample next to my computer is a brown 12-oz bottle, with "Okocim Pils" on the label, and a sentence in French: "Brassee et embouteillee par la Brasserie Okocim, Pologne". So maybe this is the same beer everybody else is talking about, labeled for importation into France? A mystery, that I doubt will ever be solved, since I've heard that the brewery mighty be closing up shop.
And that would be a shame, since this isn't all that bad. Not all that good, either, but Lord knows I've had much worse beers than this. A good case-study for folks who want to know what Lublin hops taste like (which aren't much more than Polish Saaz hops, to be honest).
A fairly routine and pedestrian lager from a brewery that I suspect used to produce much better beers -- you don't stick around since 1845 in Europe to produce swill, me'thinks. Give this a go and try it out yourself, while it's still around.
~ Re-Review, 07-23-2004:
A year later, and yet another bottle of beer that doesn't match what seemingly everybody else is getting. For the 500mL brown bottle I have has a green-and-gold oval, with red highlights, and white lettering (and is listed as 5.8%ABV, to boot).
Regardless of various label changes, this is still a fairly typical Euro-Lager, with a bit more more bite in the alcohol department than the average. Not destestable, but nothing really thrilling either.

Sampled from can, about as much head as there is good things to say. An average, straw yellow appearence. An almost (but not quite) bitter, otherwise malty body. Medium bodied with little texture. Another average lager - not my favourite but easy enough to enjoy when you're in the mood.
