On cask at Håndverkerstuene. Black with a minimal head. Aroma of roasted malt, wood, burnt, chocolate, and hints of coffee and tar. Noticable alcohol, but pretty well integrated. Smooth and quite drinkable.

Pours a dark brown colour with ruby highlight. The head is creamy as the lacing, mocha colour, decent lasting. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts with hints of licorice, pepper and bread. Flavours of licorice, caramel, roasted malts and herbal notes. Very smooth mouthfeel, on the oily side. Wow, this brew is quite something.

Pours black with a brown head. No retention or lacing though. Subdued aroma of roasted malt, spice and fruits. Creamy, medium to full mouthfeel. Flavour, yummmmm. Burnt coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, dark fruits pine, spice and vanilla. Nøgne Ø do things well. pity about the appearance on this one.

Comes out of the bottle a deep, warm sable with a very thick tan head that sticks around for a bit and leaves some generous lacing. The sample I got fizzed quite a bit, but at least I didn’t get a miniature Old Faithful the way I have on occasion. Rich, smoky aroma has notes of molasses, quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and toffee. Lip-smacking flavor fills the mouth with roast malt, quality coffee, caramel, wood, licorice and hops plus a noticeable alcohol nip. Smooth, firm-bodied texture has good fizz and leaves a slightly sweet, slightly hop bitter, smoky and tingly finish. The offspring of Terrapin and Nogne-O is a beautiful child!

It's been a while since I had a Nogne O porter and I had forgotten how good their dark roasty beers can be. Wonderful malted chocolate and roasted malt aroma with some earthiness and spice in there as well. The flavor is not quite as complex, but the rye is a really nice touch.

500 ml bottle, batch #761, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. 45 IBU. Pitch black colour, large and creamy tan head. Very nice aroma with roasty and fruity notes, notes of sour berries, oak, red wine vinegar, mild coffee and dark chocolate. The flavour is sweet and roasty, notes of coffee, dark bitter chocolate and liquorice. Bitter finish.
