Volunteer coaches teach kids a wide variety of skills - how to stick handle a puck, shoot a basketball or make a catch. But the real lesson is about sportsmanship, hard work and the importance of community. The first to arrive and the last to leave, these people work hard to help the next generation enjoy the benefits of sport. We wanted to highlight the important contributions that volunteer coaches make to our communities and to our youth. Trevor Brown is a friend of the brewery and a great example of a coach who donates his time and energy to impart a love of hockey to kids in his community. He develops lesson plans that help develop a complete player on and off the ice. He makes learning fun! We asked Trevor to help us brew a beer that would celebrate volunteer coaches across Canada. He's a fan of strong IPA style beers so we developed a triple IPA that screams "power forward" with its silky hands and robust body. Triple IPAs take a hop-forward appraoch and feature New World hops that have intense citrus, pin and floral fragrance. This beer comes in at 10% alcohol, at the upper range of the Triple IPA style. We call it Coach's Challenge.

reviewed Oct.2017. On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours a huge frothy off white head and has a pale golden appearance. Great retention. Medium carbonation. Thick sticky dirty lacing. Aromas of floral hops, fruity notes, orange peel hints. Flavours are quite fruity, lots of citrus type notes, orange peel, coriander. Bitterness and sweetness is well balanced. At 10%abv, alcohol is very well hidden and can be quite deceiving. Pretty good and a bit of a step up for Nita, with the stronger beers. They have plenty of challenging beers, what with their coconut and licorice ones, this one's a nice change.
