Portaging around falls and rapids was once the only way to get around. We named our classic Pale Ale after the voyageurs and explorers who had to make the long portage around Niagara Falls for hundreds of years. "Pale ales" actually are quite dark in colour compared to today's popular ales and lagers. They were originally called pale ales because they were much lighter in colour than the dark porters and stouts that preceded them. Niagara's Best Pale Ale is a full flavoured beer that can be enjoyed with strongly spiced foods. It is brewed with a combination of imported English “Maris Otter” pale malt, English crystal malt and English Bullion and Fuggles hops to reproduce that authentic English pale ale taste.

    Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

On tap: Taps a hazed pale orange amber, smallish off white cat does not last. Light carbonation. Aroma is standard : citrus tones some light fruity esters, caramel and some earthy yeast notes. Thinnish on the palate, good balance of malts with hop bittering, finishes with fruity notes and hop bittering in control. Has some holes and rough edges to shake out of the process and recipe.
