New Belgium and Elysian are together again with Kick, a rich and tart pumpkin cranberry ale blended with wood-aged beer for a uniquely complex harvest season sour. The russet and orange of autumn shimmer through a slight haze like sunlight through the smoke from burning leaves. The taste and texture of pumpkin give way to the refreshing tang of cranberries and critters, satisfying and exciting with each swallow, finishing with an urge for more. Kim brought sour from New Belgium; Dick brought pumpkin from Elysian. You’ll get a Kick out of their collaboration. - - - - - From the bottle: 75% ale brewed with pumpkin & cranberry juice. 25% ale aged in wooden barrels.

Strong, malty aroma has hints of wood, yeast, and yes, cranberry. It pours a nice clear amber with a thick white head. Malty flavor has a firm cranberry overtone, somewhat sour but not unpleasant, with a touch of sweetness, as well as hints of lemon, hops and - could that be butterscotch? Firm-bodied, lively, sassy texture never rests, and leaves a tingly, sour finish. A great way to "kick" off October!

I was a little hesitant going into this one based on the price but ended up really enjoying it. Some faint pumpkin and spice in the aroma but dominated by the cranberry. Taste is similarly one sided with the tart fruit again coming out on top.

Copper color pour with a nice medium white head. Aroma is fruity and sweet with a bit malt coming through. Taste is very tart, I get little pumpkin but the cranberry really sticks out to me with some sweetness mixed in. A fun beer to try and overall pretty damn good.

22oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium fine white head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is tart fruits and some vinous alcohol with some earthiness.
The flavor is sharp tart, sour fruits with some dry, acidic vinous alcohol (champagne-like). The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, an interesting beer. A pretty good sour. I'd like to see more pumpkin and cranberry and less champagne notes. -

Nice clear orange amber pour with a tall white head and very good lacing. Tart but light cranberry aroma then hint of spiced pumpkin, sour lemons, slightly woodsy. Taste is quite tart near sour, with cranberries, spices, slight funky yeasts, lemons, more tart. Sour but tasty.

Pretty tasty beer that I picked up from Star the other day. Pours a cloudy amber colour with nice tart fruit notes. Slightly nutty aroma, some wood, spices and pumpkin. Balanced, a lot going on but not overwhelming.

pours a medium-darker amber/orange. aroma of cranberries, a hint of spice, and a little oak and funk. really well balance flavor and a soft mouthfeel. flavor is pumpkin (as it warms), sweet and tart cranberry, wood, and some barnyard, all in about equal measures. i was hoping for a more straightforward pumpkin beer than this, but what i got was quite good in a different way. a unique tasty brew.
