Nantahala Brewing Company’s inaugural beer is made with pale malt and a generous amount of crystal malts. In addition to the copious amounts of pellet hops used in the kettle, we run is through our uniquely designed “hop back” which mingles fresh hop flowers with the wort on the way to the fermenter. This process, along with dry hopping, produces a piney, grapefruit and grassy aroma and helps contribute to a crisp, dry finish.

    Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Comes out of the tap a hazy honey golden, not much head but that must be from the pour. Aroma is quite hoppy with a firm fruity undertone. Hoppy flavor is scarcely bitter and has a nice fruity underpinning that is equal parts citrus and pomme. Fruity sweetness and hoppy bitterness balance almost perfectly. Firm texture has plenty of fizz and leaves behind a tingly, hoppy, fruity finish. Definitely a worthy IPA!
