Ice Axe IPA is the Mt. Hood Brewing Co.'s flagship and best selling beer. Pale amber in color and aggressively hopped, Ice Axe is a mouth-filling and well balanced beer. Slight buttery overtones provided by oak-conditioning, gives it a character reminiscent of a fine wine.

On tap downtown at this bar that was advertised on beermapping as a good beer spot. I'm totally blanking on the name now. Anyway, you go in there, it's pretty uptight and fancy. The downstairs bar is where all the action is. They do have a pretty impressive taplist but the beertenders are in such a fucking hurry that they can't possibly stop longer than 4 seconds for you. Once you get your beer in the ice cold mugs, which always pisses me off, the beer itself is totally freezing. Then there is a little frosty tray that you stick your already freezing brew on. Once the beer warmed up however, it tasted terribly. PRobably because it was frozen to death. Watery, golden, way to biscuity, not much hops. I'm sure the experience had something to do with it. Also that the brew was $5.50. I'll try it again someday in the appropriate environment.
