Light, drinkable brown beer. Don’t fear color. Strong malt flavors & light body. Try santiam, sterling, willamette, & cluster for hops. Dryhop? Low amounts for nice complexity. Toffee, caramel, brown sugar, & mild chocolate. Maybe special B? Biscuit malt? Brown malt, dehusked carafa? Base styles? Irish reds, German alts, English brown ales, NBA, Scottish ales? Which yeasts? Kölsch, English ale, and Scottish ale? Tawny port color to brown.

Other than lacking the peated malts this was very similar to a big scotch ale/wee heavy. Very much caramel and toffee, almost no hop presence, full bodied and very smooth. I think this is the only imperial brown I have ever had.

A better than average brown... malty, but not too sweet. Light to medium bodied. Caramel and toffee are present in the aroma and flavor. decent tan head. Very drinkable.
