Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5
On my most recent work trip to Anchorage, AK, I decided to stray away from the normal stuff at Moose's Tooth Pizzeria and try one of their new brews. This time it was one called the "Cerveza del Sol" and was Moose's Tooth's stab at a summer ale. Unfortunately this wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
When the waiter brought it out, I was presented with a clear, filtered, light amber brew with a very small head on it. The aroma was severely lacking as I really couldn't smell much of anything coming out of the glass. I was hoping for some sort of citrus or yeastyness, but the beer had none.
The beer's flavor was what I'd describe as average. There was nothing wrong with the flavor in the way of flaws or anything, it just wasn't anything special. It had a very light hint of bitterness to it and the mouthfeel left you with a slight tingle on your tongue.
Overall this was a very average summer ale which I was expecting more from. The recipe could use a kick of something citrusy or hoppy if this is going to be a mainstay on the menu.
