Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Bottle from somewhere I haven't been in a while. Sat in a wine shipper for a couple years. Poured into a baby Duvel tulip.

Maroonish, orangy/red amber hue. A bit opaque. Lots of sediment not quite sleeping at the bottom.
Smells faintly of strawberry jam, but there's more dominant things in there, like caramel custard & orange rind. A little oxidation on the nose too, so some raisin & toasty old malt.
Taste is cooked honey, strawberry jam, newspaper, & grain. Faint sourness. Lingering waxiness.
Grainy, goopey texture. Thin, alcoholic finish.

This was a bit more pronounced when fresh, but was never big on fruit. The honey character has always been solid though. One of the few American places that can put out a decent mead every few batches.

Not a big fan o this one. Light honeysuckle and strawberrues in the aroma. Not much depth in the aroma or flavor, which is light and similar to the aroma. Flatish and nearly pink...this is more like a summer wine (and an average on at best) than any of the meads i've ever had.
