Monteith's Kristall Weizen is a German-style clear wheat beer typical of those beers brewed in Bavaria and around Stuttgart in Southern Germany. It has a subtle clove-like spicy aroma and taste, typical of Weizen Beers. Unlike it’s cousin the “Hefeweizen” which is cloudy with the yeast, Kristall Weizens are clear with a pale golden hue. Monteith's Kristall Weizen has dry malty characteristics from the use of a special German wheat malt, finished with fine, smooth malt notes and a pale golden colour from the use of a Munich-style malt and given further complexity by the traditional decoction process used in it’s brewing. The key flavours are its subtle cloves, fruity esters and spicy notes, derived from the German weizen bier yeast used in the fermentation. Typical of the style, the use of Hallertau hops is low key allowing the subtle flavour of the yeast and wheat malt to predominate. Monteith's Kristall Weizen is a premium beer that brings a new taste sensation to the discerning drinker. Brewed to traditional German standards for this style it adds to the stable of fine beers from Monteiths. The clean crisp but spicy taste of Monteith’s Kristall Weizen is ideal with fresh bread, cheese and Munich weissworst with continental mustards.
