A robust Irish style oatmeal stout with distinct roast chocolate notes and a creamy smooth finish. This beer recipe involves 9 different malts, and oats. The German immigrants who founded Milwaukee’s first big breweries brought over more from their homeland than a love of great beer: they brought their zest for life and friendly competition. Area brewers would gather regularly for a game of Sheepshead which would develop from a friendly after-work card game into a late night of skill and nerve, full of tense moments, shouting, laughter, and, of course, great beer. Gesundheit!

This beer poured a dark black color with a creamy beige head. It had a very strong coffee aroma as well as a coffee flavor with other complex roasted malts. It was made very well, and as much as I am warming up to darker beers, I just couldnt enjoy this one because of the strong coffee taste.

Pours a dark black opaque colour, with a nice full tan head. Aroma is very strong of coffee and roasted malts. Initial taste is heavy, dark roasted malt character, almost chewy- it quickly smoothes out nicely, finishes with a taste that is sort of similar to cold hot chocolate.

Jet-black in color but virtually no head. Little aroma; what is there is faint roasted malt. Much too light and thin for an oatmeal stout; not at all smooth. Flavor starts out sweet but ends up metallic and bitter. Disappointing to say the least.

Slight roasted malt aroma(it was served pretty cold, I should have let it warm up) creamy roasted malt taste. Looked and tasted as good as any of the Irish dry stouts, maybe just a little thinner
