This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civet cats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries. Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma

Pours black with thin, lasting head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, tobacco with a flavor profile to match. Enjoyable interplay between sweet and bitter. Medium-to-full body with vigorous carbonation. A fine example by style. A year ago, it would have probably scored some tens with me, but I live in the land of Prairie Artisan Ales and that means this beer competes with Bomb! and Noir and Vanilla Noir. Against those it is an 8.

Diggity damn. I hadn't had a Impy Stout this good in a long time. Thanks to Chris for sharing this with me. Big, deep ass black, sludgy, motor oil texture. Nose is insane. Smokey, burned to shit everything. Taste is intense. Bitterness galore but underlying sweetness that you can't ignore. Thanks Chris!

Great beer aroma, strong beer smells with chocolate, coffee and molasses. Thick creamy head that looks almost black but settles out a nice dark tan. The beer is nearly black. Mouthfeel is milkshake smooth and just about as thick. Flavor is great, right up there with the best. I wasn't sure I wanted to pick this up due to cost and I probably won't again, but it was still a good one to try, the coffee comes from rat shit for Christ sakes, how could I not buy it?

BAM! Pours thick and black, with a very low ringlet of brown head. Aroma has licorice. Mouthfeel is huge, smooth, tons of coffee espresso, chocolate, vanilla. Nice nice nice.

Mikkeller makes great beer. And this one is no different. Black midnight in color with a big brown color, frothy textured head rising robustly above. Great hang time on this one. Settles eventually into a thick ringlet and film. The nose is a cup of dark coffee. The taste, burnt malt and bitter chocolate. A thick creamy body makes this one one go down well.

really quite enjoyable. After the first time I enjoyed I didnt think that there would be a second, but then beerchronic comes to visit and we drink it in an ice cave behind a frozen waterfall in a UN heritage site.... this is a beer for stories thats for sure. The beer itself, not so acidic and burnt as some impy stouts can be. Its silky and lovely, with all kinds of subtle acids. The coffee notes are prevelant but subtle and complex on their own. A significant amount of complaex malts jump around, going from mollasses and brown sugar in one gulp to refined cote d'or chocolate in the next. Always rich and svaoury, like a ridiculously high quality pot de creme. Well balanced, complex and enjoyable. Now I need to try the coffee on its own!

We’ll call this color black with a thick chocolate brown cap. After the cap went down the brew looked thick and oily almost like yummy sludge. Deep dark bitter coffee aroma hints of alcohol, I also smell sweet hints of hazel nut. Brew feels thinner than expected but still acceptable. Ash or possibly dirt with perfumey hops and a nice alcohol presence and of course boat loads of coffee. Not sure what to say I was expecting so much more do to the legendary status of this beer, it was still good and of very high quality but not this amazing god like nectar like people make it out to be.

Got this 500ml bottle at Pinocchios and poured into a Duvel snifter. This beer pours black with a two-finger mocha-colored head settling to a coating which lasted throughout. Lacing was irregular but interesting and present at the last sip. Nose was coffee, chocolate, some dark roasted malt. Taste was coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, roasted malt and some spice, including pepper. Aftertaste was mildly bitter. Not a lot of carbonation, the mouthfeel was creamy, rich and thick. There is some noticeable alcohol. A little too expensive for me to try very often, but off this first try, I would certainly want to.

NOt as good as the Beek Geek brunch - even if they are using a better coffee bean. Colour - black. Aroma - dark chocolate, coffee, weak vanilla. Mouthfeel - full bodied. Flavour - dark chocolate, bitter coffee. Overall - get the Beer Geek Brunch - a better beer

thanks to Thomassova4, i had this side by side w/ Beer Geek Breakfast...and there was no comparison. While it was significantly stronger, it was smoother and easier to drink. the coffee, cocoa aroma was intense, as was the flavor. more sweet than bitter. the beer is warming, otherwise no hint of it being nearly 11%. Mikkellers smoothest beer ever. intense and mellow at the same time. lingering bittersweet coffee finish. (it would be a 4.6, but no aspect is quite a 10/10, so a 4.5 for now...BG Breakast is between 4.3-4.4). 6/10-on tap...aroma and feel even better if thats even possible. one of my favorites. ever. must. find. keg.
