Despite the ban on women in the Union Army, Elizabeth Newcomb fought in the Civil War. Bill, as she was known, dressed as a man and saw combat in several battles. We have named our India Pale Ale after Elizabeth because its looks are deceiving. Although light in color, it is fully hopped with a bold, bitter taste. This beer is not for the rookie ale drinkers, and certainly would have been a favorite of Elizabeth's.

A brew I had on tap a while ago at McCoy's in KC. A pretty solid brew that I had a couple pints of along side the KCBT crew. Poured a hazey orange with a big white head. Aroma is big fruitiness, citrus palate and balanced hop character.

Had on draft @ McCoys in KC .. . Pours orange, great foam, same with the lacing .. . citrus and sap, pretty light.. . A good session IPA.. . If there are any questions, direct them to that brick wall over there..

Sampled at McCoy's. Poured a cloudy orange-brown color with medium white head. Some lacing apparent. Aroma was strong and hoppy. Flavor was also hoppy with a nice citrus (grapefruit) bite to it. Bitter aftertaste. My favorite of all the McCoy's regulars.

I'm not much of an IPA person but this was ok to me. I was told they are typically a little more redish tint to them than what was served. mildly hoppy so it was tolerable to me, but a nice after taste. might actually drink this again!

Big citrus (orange and grapefruit) with some subtle malt sweetness. Copper orange with red and yellow highlights. White, clingy head. Very well balanced. Hops take the lead, but the malt holds its own. Probably the best beer available at any KC brewpub.

Served from cask and served very well indeed. Huge hop bouquet with lots of big citrus hop notes and less pine than expected and with abundant floral wafting from the creamy head. Try this if you can.
