Inspired by the Alt beers of Germany, our Amber ale has a velvety malt character and a balanced hop finish. German Pilsner and Aromatic malts contribute a fine toasty flavor that keeps this beer dry and refreshing.

This altbier pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet, touch of brown sugar and some minerals. A medium to lighter bodied alt. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy and earthy. There is a fairly strong mineral presence is this beer. The carbonation is a touch flat, and its perhaps a little thin tasting. But, the malt flavors are good and the mineral flavors are interesting. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

A surprisingly tasty find, from a place that I previously had not heard too much about, to be honest.
And I was also a bit surprised to find this beer listed as an Altbier. But, now that I think about it, I can definately see this clasification fitting the beer in question rather well.
Long story short, this beer works pretty well, in that the malty breadiness meshes nicely with the back-end/front-of-boil bitterness -- a bitterness that doesn't try to hide in the background, but also breaks the West Coast mold, in that it's "not all up in your grill", so to speak! ;^)
Rather morish in the mouthfeel and the overall drinkability -- rather easy to down, I'd say. Appealing, but not too filling, either.
Reminds me of the Long Trail Amber (Alt), in that this is really not hugely complex, but has enough things going in the background to make things interesting -- and yet also easy enough to down without a whole lot of drama or to-do, too. Recommended.

Pours with an amber body with no head or lacing. Ok, this beer smells like ass...LITERALLY. The flavor is slightly sweet and malty without much else. Medium bodied and smooth.
