It's pale, it's an ale and it's Odd. Yes, the latest concoction in our ever-revolving line of Odd Notions has arrived. The Spring 2010 Odd Notion is a cross-pollination of the classic American wheat beer and the American pale ale. What grew was an unfiltered union with a delightful hop aroma, a pleasant citrus hop flavor and wonderfully balanced finish.

Received in the Winterland '10 variety pack, called "Encore" now, part of their "IPA On Tour" seriers. Read on ratebeer.com that this is the same as the Odd Notion (Spring '10). When I sampled the first one, seemed like a pale ale that is not quite an IPA, but the American wheat cross explains it. A decent beer, just nothing to write home about...actually now that I am getting to the end bumping the flavor up from 7 to 8...no complaints really. Has some good malty flavors and hops is there. Appearance on the orange side for an IPA. Mouthfeel is smooth. Finding Magic Hat beers above average, but not quite premium. This could be the one I like best though out of the 4-5 that I tried.

Picked this up in a Magic Hat 12 pack. Pours a hazey yellow with a medium sized fluffhead. Citrus fruits in abundance. Lemon and orange and other citrus notes. Taste is light and hoppy, balanced but noticeable fresh hop bite near the finish. A Clean and refreshing beer.
