Is he a who? Or a what? Or perhaps some of both? No one knows for he only travels under heavy clouds of night... Away from his cage he sometimes appears in the distance causing mischief to those around him. Unfiltered and unfettered. Circus boy is a unique and refreshing American-style hefeweizen. He's alive!

12oz bottle from the state store
Pours clear golden with a small white head that dissipates quickly, light lacing. Aroma of banana, cloves and wheat. Flavor of lemon, wheat, bitter and dish towel

AHH, all right! Another wheat beer I have not tasted. No kidding, wheat is one of my favorite styles! Also, I really took to the magic hat #9 I had on tap. Oh no! I see this is rated as a veggie spice beer, things are getting worse. It says unfiltered and unfettered with a closed curtain on the front, how quaint! Has an interesting sour aroma once I pop the top off of the brown 12 oz bottle. Oh yea, don’t you just love the pour of an unfiltered beer, especially a hefe? Swirling mysterious clouds in the vague unsettled brew. This one is not white, it is kind of sweet apple cider colored, orangish light brownish tan. There is this coating of sludge in the bottom of the bottle. Lemon grass? Burlington VT? Rouse gently? These things listed on the label are all mysteries to me. Flavor is definitely hefelike but not in the manner of a whitbeir. Yes this is more like an american wheat, and I think it is more like an american wheat than many other american hefes on this site. This is one of the better spice/herb/veggy beers I’ve drank. The name magic hat deserves some accommodations. Finish is a little bitter surprisingly but it is neither offensive nor lasting, its gone after a few moments. Would buy again, can appreciated this brew.

Hazy orangish yellow in color with a white foamy head. citrus and spice aroma is prevelant. Light sour malt flavor not very strong.

Pours clear topaz with a good eggshell head. Aroma offers sweet pomme and raw malt character. Flavor features raw malt, sweetish fruit, and a bit of lemon for a mouthful of summer - great on a chilly day. Smooth mouthfeel has firm body and fair fizz. Send in the beer!

Hazy light-golden colour with a small white cap and minimal lacing. Citrus aromas over grainy malts and wheat. The taste is also citrusy, with some light sourness over light cereal grain and spices. Was expecting a sweet heavy Hefeweizen, but seem like an easier drinking citrus-spiced ale.

Pours a hazy golden, almost orange-tinted body. A white head recedes quickly to a few patches of wisp. No lacing. The aroma is of malt sweetness, faint orange citrus. The taste begins with a malty backbone, with citrus and tanginess around it. Pretty bright finish, really tart. The mouth feel is really bright and carbonated and medium bodied.

A hazy yellow body with a touch of bronze, veryy little head a spot or two of lace. Aromas of hay and musty lemons, ok mouthfeel. Flavor a bit better than the aroma with a bit of banana and a tiny bit of spice coming through.

Cap says, "The Urge to Create is Always Great." Good. "Unfiltered and Unfettered." I like that, too. "Cloudy by nature, like Burlington itself." OK. Pours a cloudy orange color, with a very tall white head and loads of lace. Banana esters are subdued by a strong lime aroma. "Rouse gently to release full flavor." Good, but not quite up to the bold, self-proclamation: "THE HEFEWEIZEN!"

I can't believe this has such a low style score. I've had it many times before and didn't realize I hadn't reviewed it until now. A little cloudy. Has a pretty normal banana and lemony wheat aroma and flavor to it.

Pours a slightly hazed light caramel gold, great head, good lacing too .. . cardboard and grain in the nose mostly .. . house! house! house! house! flush! flush! .. . medicinal notes upfront- light grain, banana skin and light sweet lemongrass follow, some soap too.. . definitely not the best wheat i've had and i could enjoy this just as a refreshing summer quaffer but the slight off flavours/aromas kill this for me .. . .. .
Get the hell outta here! Ever see a guy say good-bye to a shoe?
Yes, once.
