Mac's Copperhop Ale is the fifth Mac's Limited Release and the latest brew will be going on tap - the first Mac's Limited Release ever to be available on tap. Mac's Copperhop Ale is an India Pale Ale style beer, whose name is derived from the five hop varieties, an unusually high number. The Nelson-based brewery has chosen hops from the Nelson region, which are added at selected times late in the boil to create a distinctive hoppy flavour. With the autumnal character of Mac's Copperhop Ale, a ploughman's lunch of fresh bread, cheddar cheese, cured meats, pickled onions, Branston Pickle and salad greens is a perfect complement. As with all Mac's Limited Releases, Mac's has used this opportunity to support with the Nelson region with the product and the packaging. All five hop varieties are from the Nelson region, and the label features work by local artist Sally Burton. Mac's Copperhop Ale won Best in Class and a Gold Medal in the Pale Ale Section at the New Zealand Beer Cup (part of BrewNZ), and a week later it brought home a Silver Medal for Australasian Packaged India Pale Ale from the Australian International Beer Awards.
