Had a half pint at Ottawa location, available for the month of March. Poured a very thick and creamy mocha coloured head and has an extremely dark brown appearance. Pretty good lacing. Mild aromas of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavours are fairly light, somewhat underwhelming. Mostly light roasted malts, coffee, hints of nuts, bready malts and earthy hops. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Fairly smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Not too bad but have had much better.

Tried at the Ottawa brewpub, but says it was the monthly beer (The Stout, 5.7% ABV. with a 35 IBU). Is it possible to have a stout in a brewpub, only one month a year ?? Anyways, pours a dark brown with a nice creamy head (probably nitro) with very long retention and decent thick lacing. Roasted malt nose with hints of fruits that calm down the dark malt. Eventually, caramel blends in. Smooth silky mouthfeel, not too heavy, but with good creaminess. Mild roasted malt taste with nice light bitterness, which blends well with some smokiness. A nicely balanced brew, between the dark malt and hop that goes down very well. Hope they can put this one yearly like they did with their IPA.

This was the most uninspired stout I have had in a long time. The waitress said it was in the style of a Guinness, and that should have been my cue as I'm not a fan of Guinness. It poured a dark brown with black edges, and a creamy brown head. Aroma was weak roast with some coffee and chocolate in the background. Mouthfeel was weak to medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was weak roast, weak coffee, and weak chocolate. So, not offensive......but not memorable.
