excellent selection, a bronze lager worthy of a gold star. nice head, good balance, clean, fresh taste. not for people needing their tonsils knocked out, but for the rest of us who appreciate a superior beer, this works

After reading the other reviews, i have to say i was looking forward to trying Lemps, but then... It poured a decent looking dark yellow, slightly amberish body with a nice thick head. The aroma and flavor was overwhelming of sweet corn and not much elseand it was a little bitter. Maybe the sixer we got wasnt any good but i was disappointed.

Hands down, the best pale lager I've had. In fact, I have a new favorite lager. I waited several samples to write this review. As a beer lover, it's hard for me to love a lager--they're always overshadowed by beligian sours, imperial stouts and the like, but I love this lager. Pours orangy-gold with good clarity and thick, lasting head. Sweet pear jumpstarts the aroma, with clean light hops to follow. The flavor is fresh, clean, incredibly balanced. Finishes gently sweet with no aftertaste whatsoever. Light bodied, not thin or watery, with proper carbonation. It really surprised me. Drink one.

Sampled from bottle. This classic american pils pours gold in color with a thin white head. Aroma is quite clean with only malt and subtle spices. Flavor is well-balanced and malty with a good noble hop presence. Medium-light body and well-carbonated. Great example of the style and an easy drinking beer from one of my least favorite styles.

In the early 1900's, the Lemp brewery was the largest brewery in the United States. After a series of family tradgies (a string of suicides) the brewery was sold. A couple of years ago the Lion Brewery aquired the original recipe for Lemp beer and started brewing. The beer is very good and is quite a bit stronger than say Budweiser. It is definately worth a try.
